john grantner | digital mordançage

Mordançage is an 'analog' acid bath darkroom process that makes shadow areas seem to glow. The method was originally used in the19th Century for correcting overexposed glass plate negatives. It was resurrected in the 1990s and used by Abstract and Surrealist photographers to distort black and white prints. I developed a digital equivalent of the 1990s process. Digital technology takes it in new directions.
